Blackbird

I just downloaded onto I-tunes the song "Blackbird"... I have been listening to it on and on through the morning... The whole "Broken Wing" motif I've built up with my arm has me looking for metaphors and some small symbolism, and these lyrics seem to ring true.

But not just for me, for my friends doing Stormy (the ultra 64km trail race in Squamish) and Ironman this month... and for those I know with "broken wings" (recovering from illness, injury, loss)... Get the song out!

In honour of the broken wing...
The Beatles
(Lennon & McCartney singing)

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free.

Blackbird fly
Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.

Blackbird fly
Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.
